Ear on Sprungfeld Two friends decide to make a somewhat shambolic and semi-coherent podcast analysing episodes of The Simpsons. What could go wrong?
The Grandma Project My grandmother was born in Bydgoszcz, Poland in 1930. She remembers the day the war broke out - Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939. The next six years saw my grandma move around Poland with her young sister and her mother, trying to avoid detection by Nazis, and then by invading Russian forces. It was a precarious, dangerous life by all accounts. She saw just a fraction of the horrors of the Second World War - enough to be etched into her memory. After the war ended, she travelled to Germany to reach the allied forces in the hope of coming to England, where her father (who was in the Polish Navy) was then stationed. Even that journey, after the fighting had stopped, was fraught with wrong turns, dead ends and near misses. In November 1946, the family finally arrived in England by frigate. I have been detailing her story through interviews which recorded her memories, no matter how fractured they may be. I pieced together the stories to form a cohesive account of her experience during the war. It is harrowing, vivid and fascinating to imagine. This is her story.
Fake Album Covers Inspired by the SubReddit of the same name, I decided to try some out using photographs I'd already taken and just a bit of amateur Photoshop finesse.
